Today, the Kenya Development Corporation (KDC) joined a major tree planting exercise organized by the Office of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service at Chepalungu Forest in Bomet County. As part of this collaborative effort, KDC donated 10,000 tree seedlings to support Kenya’s ambitious goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032, demonstrating its commitment to environmental stewardship and climate action. The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, local leaders, community members, and learners, all united in the mission to restore forest cover and combat the effects of climate change.

The Chepalungu Forest initiative is a key part of the national strategy to restore 10.6 million hectares of forest and improve ecosystem health across the country. By contributing thousands of seedlings, KDC is helping to secure vital water catchments, promote biodiversity, and create sustainable livelihoods for local communities. The event also highlighted the importance of continuous community involvement and public-private partnerships in achieving Kenya’s reforestation targets and building a greener, more resilient future for all.
